About Ground Control

Eric Hanson has lived in Durango, CO for almost 20 years. He moved to Durango to pursue his passion for skiing and fell in love with the unique landscapes of the desert, forests, and mountains of Colorado. Eric grew up outside of a small town in Wisconsin, where he spent much of his childhood helping his mother in her flower beds.  His mother’s passion for gardening and landscaping eventually rubbed off. Eric took his mothers passion for landscaping, and his love for the outdoors, and started landscaping for a local commercial and residential landscaping company in 2000.  After gaining the formal experience needed, he started a joint landscaping business in 2006, and now is sole owner of a successful sprinkler system and landscaping business. In 2009, Eric married a Durango native gal, Britny Patterson. Together they have a 6 year old boy named Zotique, and a 1 year old girl named Adaliz.  When not landscaping, Eric can be found in the mountains skiing with his family, watching his son play soccer, dirt biking in the surrounding area, or watching his wife play in the local competitive hockey league. The last few years, Eric has sponsored a women’s softball team.  Lead by his wife,  Britny, Team Ground Control was able to win the 2017 championship.  Word’s from Eric “ I love Durango and all it has to offer.
